GOOD NEWS FOR M’SIANS VISITING SG: ENJOY TRAVEL DEALS COVERING RETAIL, ATTRACTIONS & DINING

SINGAPORE: A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed recently by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), TNG Digital, and Alipay+. It will offer some sweet deals to travellers from Malaysia to Singapore. Not only do these include more cashless payment options but also access to deals and promotions in Singapore.

At present, Malaysians who use the Touch ‘n Go eWallet by TNG Digital may use it for flight bookings and when buying travel insurance. However, they will soon be able to buy and redeem promotions via Touch ‘n Go eWallet by TNG Digital in more retail stores, attractions, and restaurants across Singapore.

TNG Digital users from Malaysia can use the Touch ‘n Go eWallet for purchases and other transactions in Singapore, and they can also take advantage of additional benefits from Alipay+. All verified Touch ‘n Go eWallet users by TNG Digital in Malaysia may avail of offers that stem from the partnership, which promises more collaborations from Singapore-based merchants that will benefit travellers from Malaysia.

“Travellers in the post-pandemic world expect a seamless traveller experience enabled by contactless payments. Our timely collaboration with TNG Digital and Alipay+ taps into this trend, leveraging our partners’ strengths to promote Singapore as a destination of choice and encouraging travellers to get more out of their visit to Singapore,” Singapore Tourism Board’s Mr Terrence Voon, the Executive Director for Southeast Asia, said.

Singapore is bouncing back from the travel and tourism slump during the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, from January to October alone, Singapore had more than 11 million visitors from all over the globe.

STB noted that Malaysia is in the top 3 of the country’s tourism source markets. Singapore has received 891,000 visitors from its nearest neighbour in the first ten months of the year.

“Expanding payment and financial convenience to our users beyond Malaysia has always been one of our key objectives as the biggest leader in the digital wallet sector within the country. Currently serving over 21 million users, we have already connected them to more than 2 million merchant touch points in Malaysia. Our users now have additional incentives to spend, receive perks and earn GOrewards points with Touch ‘n Go eWallet when they travel to Singapore,” says Mr Danny Chua, Chief Commercial Officer of TNG Digital.

On his part, Mr Douglas Feagin, Senior Vice President of Ant Group and Head of Alipay+, Ant International, said: “As more travellers return to Singapore, we’re excited to connect local businesses with international visitors digitally. Working closely with STB, we will enable Malaysian tourists to discover and visit more local merchants, to pay easily with their home e-wallet, TNG Digital, and enjoy greater savings. Through more enhanced digital payments, Singaporean merchants will also benefit from the rise in tourism.”
